What was your inspiration?
Since taking Susan Khalje's Couture Dress course, I have been trying to incorporate as many of her techniques as possible into my garments. This dress was a good candidate!
What are you most proud of?
I loved the dress when I first saw it in Burda Style Magazine. Happy to have figured out some ways to make it work better. The underlining adds stability to the linen and all of the handstitching gives the dress a couture look.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Be very, very slow and careful in stitching the curves in the front insert! Staystitching, thread tracing and basting help a lot. Otherwise, it is a straightforward, easy to sew dress.
