What advice would you give someone starting this project? This is a very easy quilt pattern to put together. It looks quite complicated, but is in fact very easy. I appliqued hearts in the center squares of the nine-patch blocks for the wall hanging to give it a little more eye interest. I did not put the appliqued hearts on the full size quilt I did for a customer. Sorry, I never got a photograph of the larger blue and white quilt.

What is the pattern called? Where can I find it? I'd love to make just the sampler that you have shown for a wall hanging, its very nice.

Actually, I never had a pattern, but it consists of a nine-patch block and a 'snowball block. The dimensions I used for the one in the photo is 2-1/2" blocks for the ninepatch (that finishes to a 6" block) then, the snowball is one 6" block and four 2-1/2" blocks. The snowball is made by placing each 2-1/2" square on each corner of the 6" square (right sides together). Then sew each small square diagonally across the corner. Press the new triangle formed on each corner back so you once again have a 6" square with a triangle on each corner. The block is made by alternating the two blocks: i.e. 1 snowball, 1 ninepatch, 1 snowball 1 ninepatch, etc. Hope this is helpful.
