Crochet cotton, size 10, in 350 yd. (320 m) balls - dark red: 1750 yds. for valance, 275 yds. for placemat; a size 8 (1.50 mm) steel crochet hook; and a 5/8" diameter curtain rod.
What was your inspiration?
A customer suggested making a rooster and chicken valance. I loved the idea and had a blast working out the design.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
This is a great project for the intermediate crocheter. In addition to detailed instructions, a graph is also provided for reference. The valance is worked from side to side.
The finished size is 77" wide x 16-1/2" long. Instructions are included to increase the width in 11" increments.
