Instructions

The Bernats and Hobby Lobby Yarns will knit up a little larger than the Knit Picks yarn. You may decide to increase your needle size with Knit Picks yarn. It is wonderful yarn to work with as are all of them! All are machine washable and dryable. I usually only put the garments in the dryer a few minutes and then lay them flat or hang them up to dry so they continue to look so nice!

Difficulty:

Category: Knitting

Type of item: Clothing

For: Children

Style: Whimsical, Funky, Cute, Mod, Casual

Materials

I've knitted this three times now with three different yarns: Knit Picks Simply Cotton Worsted (organic), Bernats Cottontots, and Hobby Lobby's "I Love This Cotton Yarn." Each one turned out very cute. The Knitpicks yarn is incredibly soft and knits up slightly smaller than the other two. The dress and hat are knit with circular needles, in-the-round and for the most part seamless.

What was your inspiration?

My granddaughters are generally my inspiration for most of my projects!

What are you most proud of?

I love that there are no small accessories attached to this dress or hat that could be considered hazardous. I usually consider that when designing.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

If you haven't tried knitting-in-the-round yet - go for it!!! It's not hard, and what is better than a seamless garment!

These are adorable. And lets not overlook the expression on that child's face...just priceless.
