Be careful how you baste on the handles if you are new to making purses. The handles are sewn to the outside (right side) of the corduroy fabric, lining up the edge of the strap with the top edge of the bag body. This isn't explained in the pattern, and yup, I made my usual mistake of sewing them on facing up and inside the bag. I never learn!Difficulty:
Category: Sewing
Type of item: Accessory
For: Women
Style: Classic, Casual
Materials
Corduory for exterior, cotton for lining, inner pocket, and yo-yos.
What was your inspiration?
The picture in the book grabbed me. And it seemed like a quick project (it was).
What are you most proud of?
Deciding I wanted a stiffer body, and thought of using fusible fleece. I even took the time to see if it should be used on corduroy (no, because the pressing needed to apply it will flatten the corduroy wale), and ended up fusing it to the lining fabric.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Be careful with handle placement. Also, I didn't see anywhere the directions to cut the bottom corners after sewing them. Remember to do that!
