I used size US8 dpns (two needles) with worsted weight yarn.
Cast on 4 stitches. Knit over 4 stitches. Push work back over to the right edge of your needle, DO NOT TURN WORK. Knit over 4 stitches. Keep knitting until you reach desired length.
You'll see as you work that it creates a continuous cord. You can pull down on the cord to make the stitches in the back come together.
Tip for changing colors: I cut lengths of yarn and knotted them together before I started to make sure that each section is about the same length. As you get to each knot, knit as usual, but make sure that the knot stays on the back side of the work (inside the cord). Knit keeping the loose ends on the inside of the work and cut any ends that may stick out from the cord. I-Cord instructions;
