Crochet cotton, size 10, in 350 yd. (320 m) balls - 4 to 6 balls of coral; and a size 7 (1.65 mm) steel crochet hook.
What was your inspiration?
I enjoy working with thread crochet and figuring out new motif designs. I decided to make a swirl-type motif and let the hexagon shape dictate the shape of the neckline and bottom edge of the coverup.
What are you most proud of?
I think making three different sizes of "swirl" motifs was a unique way to achieve different sizes for the coverup.
(I was also thinking it would be fun to connect these same swirls and create an afghan, but haven't decided on what yarn to use for that yet!)
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
If you love thread crochet, this is a great project for the intermediate crocheter.
I would also suggest cutting out the front and back pieces from the assembly chart and taping them together for a visual of how the motifs fit together.
Two assembly charts, in addition to the three motif sizes, are provided to achieve multiple sizes for the coverup. The finished chest-hip sizes/lengths are: 33"/29", 37-1/2"/33", 38-1/2"/29", 42"/37", 43-3/4"/33", and 49"/37".
The pattern is available for $4.50 and is written in U.S. terms.
