What materials did you use? 18 gauge copper wire, green impression jasper, heavy gauge copper pre made chain.

What are you most proud of? In this piece I am proud that I figured out a way to make the spirals all the same size. These are all handmade with no jig.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? I would suggest to make a drawing of the spiral and the size you want it to be. Then using some scrap with, form it the the drawing. I also found that a cut piece of a shoe liner worked really well as a spacer to keep the spirals spaced evenly. Test the holes of your chosen bead to make sure it fits the wire. If you chose to do double loop wrapped beads, be sure when you open them that you dont go the wrong way, If you do they will become distored. The swirls are all hammered and tumbled with burnishing compound and steel shot. If you cant or don't make your own jump rings, purched ones will work just fine.

Very very nice. Could u get away with just hammering the swirls, if u don't have a tumbler.?

09/23/2011 Flag

yes, hammering works well and gives the swirls some nice texture.

10/18/2011 Flag

I dont see why you could not just hammer them. that is what i did before i got the tumbler.
