I drew the leaf shape on the flat copper and cut out with a jewelry saw. You can do a simple leaf shape with shears. Then I held the flat shape in a butane torch till the surface was almost black. Then with a pair of bail making pliers (large size) I put the waves in the sides of the leaf. Then I cleaned off some of the black with 120 grit sand paper. What was your inspiration?
A leaf I picked up while walking the dogs was this same color so it came in a was on my work bench for days until I cut this out
What are you most proud of?
The edges of this were smoothed out with a drimel sanding tool and this was the first time I've used this. It's worked great.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Let your first leaf be a simple shape. Not a lot of uneven edges, these are harder to file and smooth out.
