What was your inspiration?
The customer sent me the stone with the original intent of wire wrapping it. When it arrived, it was much thinner than I expected. I decided to try a tab setting instead, and to make the tabs part of the design as well as serving their purpose of holding the stone. I distressed it first with a flathead screwdriver, then hammered it more on the rough concrete step off my porch.
What are you most proud of?
This is my first setting piece. I couldn't have asked for any better result.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
I took a class on metal pendant making, learning to use the jeweler's saw was key to this project. That is the easiest way I know to make interior cuts.
