Instructions

I altered the original pattern slightly by adding a picot bind-off after the border. I did not use the optional Ruffle edging. The scarf was knitted in the large size.

Materials

Two skeins, Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock yarn (430yds) in the Sublime colourway.

What was your inspiration?

I just needed a simple design to show off the gorgeous colours of this yarn. This delightful pattern came up in a search on Ravelry. It was exactly what I was looking for. I have a collection of these small shawls/scarves which I use to keep my neck and shoulders warm during the winter months. I just love the lace pattern of this one and am really looking forward to wearing it.

What are you most proud of?

I listened to Stefanie Japel's advice on blocking in her "Knit Lab" course. She had suggested spinning a knitted item before blocking as an alternative to squeezing out into a towel. It worked so well with this scarf - it made blocking it far more of a pleasure and it dried overnight. Wonderful.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Just relax into the lace pattern, it really is a delight to knit. Use your nicest, softest yarn so you will love wearing it when it is finished.
