This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Craftsy Block of the Month 2012 »

Instructions

I don't think this block is available right now... Carol Doak's designed it for a BOM on here yahoo group... But she takes them down after about a year.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Funky, Classic, Traditional

Materials

Black and white cotton with focus

What was your inspiration?

I want to extend these block to a king size quilt. The design I have in mind includes 12 of these connector blocks and borders... I also had to make a 21 st block so I made the counter clockwise flying geese. The total size should be 108 inches square. I can't wait to get it done!

What are you most proud of?

That I came up with a setting design that I can't wait to finish.... Too bad life is so busy, or I would have it done... But since I can't drop out of life, you might have to wait a week or two.

What a great idea! And it looks really good - different enough to set it apart but it still fits with the look of the other blocks.

Thanks! I can't wait to see it either... But, this is a busy season for me... I will try to steal a little sewing time here and there to get the blocks done as soon as I can so we don't have to wait too long!

I love the connector block! But I would give some thought to using a white with black print instead of the plain white in the connector block - I'd be afraid that the solid white would stand out too much.

Thanks!. It is actually a white on white print and the photo doesn't do it much justice. I tried one with a small print, but it seemed to pull away from the focus blocks and make it look a little busy... ?

OK I was just worried that the strong contrast between the white fabric & the black fabric in the connector would draw your eye to the connector blocks & not to your wonderful aqua, black, & white blocks.

Thanks for the thoughts!!! I will make a few more and see what they look like. I was also thinking that part of my outside border would be the scrappy black and white prints in a piano keys outlined with the black...?

Thanks! I might have redesigned the outer boarders so it will only be 96 inches square.... we will see how it comes together!
