Confetti Trees

Instructions

This is a sample project for a class that I will be teaching. Note that I have not put on the binding - I can't decide what color. Cutting up the confetti is great fun - just don't cut the pieces too small or you will end up with dust!

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Eco-Friendly, Romantic, Outdoorsy, Whimsical, Mod, Casual, Funky

Materials

100% cottons, batiks, and flannel with monofilament and embroidery thread

What was your inspiration?

I was inspired by Noriko Endo's quilts. I love the impressionist feeling of these quilts.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Start small. When free-motion quilting this quilt, use alot of pins to hold the pieces in place. They want to shift around and fall out.

I see now. Thank you for answering this question. I imagine a smoky effect w/ the tulle overlay. I'll give this technique a try for sure.

I'm wondering, is this similar to the Snippets technique?

No, I used black tulle to hold the confetti in place. That's why you need to use alot of pins.
