Both are awesome! That being said, I like the 2nd one better-- I think the print with the strong squares holds the edge better, and the "wispy" print softens the central element a bit. For what it's worth!
Thank you for your feedback. I honestly appreciate it and agree entirely with your comments. My dilemma at this point is that I haven't quite decided which look that I am going for.
Nice fabric choice! I prefer the left one - the stronger print catches the eye and makes the "pinwheel" in the middle stand out in the left version, but distracts/draws attention to the edges in the right version. I guess it depends on your intention, though :-).
Thanks also for your feedback. So far, I've got the vote running 2 for left and 2 for right--I'm counting my husband's and my opinions along with the comments I've gotten here.
For now I sewed up the left block. I figure that I have enough fabric that I could always still do one with the pattern on the right.
What did you decide, did you stick with the left one or??? I like the lefty one as the pin wheel effect is stronger... the fabrics seem to blend more on the right one and lose impact. Loving your blocks... esp wonky pound... the bold floral has won my heart in that one, hope you have more of it!
I did stick with the left one. I too felt I got more of a spiral effect with that. And yes I do have more of that bold floral, which I'm sure will show up again. I'm working a little out of sequence because I needed a take with me project, so jumped ahead and prepped the blocks with the English paper piecing.
