What materials did you use? Quilters cotton and batiks.

What are you most proud of? That all of my points except one are correct; that I am using so many of the things learned in Cindy's class [and the other classes I have taken from Craftsy]; that my color selections have actually blended so well; that I am using some of the free-motion designs we've seen in class and some of the guidelines Cindy gives for using templates [am I using the right word? sometimes I use the wrong ones]; that the quilt will actually be completed sometime this year.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Choose a pattern that is easy to follow, take classes that will help you follow the directions, take your time when picking out fabric and fabric colors, don't be afraid to take out stitches that you don't like if they really are going to drive you nutty, take your time, and most of all - enjoy the process!!

Thank you so much, Annac!

Very, very nice!!! Wow! Thank you for sharing. It is hard giving up something you love due to a physical ailment...trust me, I know. I'm impressed that you have turned it around and made something beautiful and positive. Good job. :)

Oh, Cindy, I really appreciate your comment, because it is from you, if nothing else. I watch the class, or parts of it, over and over, when I need to, or when I question my memory.

You really rock the colors! Impressive work. By the way, how are you doing? Just wanted you to know I haven't forgotten about you. Your friend, Linda (Shoestring).

Hey, Linda! So nice to hear from you! And thanks for your lovely comment. Just want you to know, that because of following your work, I have finally tried a handbag for myself, and am relatively happy with it. No pattern, except my favorite purse, just a little bigger. I will try to find our first string of emails and send a picture. Failing that, I will just add a picture of it on Craftsy. I obviously have not forgotten about you, either, as I check out all of your postings and drool!

Well, Linda, I could not find out original email string, so hopefully you can get to my post from here: http://www.craftsy.com/project/view/my-first-purse/152096.

Do you have a pattern for this? I would like to try this.

Dear Mandib27: There are several patterns out there for this Mariner's Star. I believe the magaine that I used was in McCall's Quilting, but I cannot find the exact month now. There are several quilting fabric companies that have Mariner's Star quilt kits, too. I think most of them use paper piecing. I hope you find one that suits your purposes.
