Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Thread Art »

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Other

Style: Funky

Materials

cotton fabric, black thread colored pencils, stiff interfacing, fabric texture medium

What was your inspiration?

I wanted a non-literal piece resembling comic book or animated characters. I like the look of accentuated features when stitching is used as the instrument. I also like the hint the exaggerated features give the viewer; it leaves a lot to the imagination. The non-literal nature gives the piece texture and shape.

What are you most proud of?

Coloring and binding

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Try to avoid piecing your fabric interfacing because it creates lines in the fabric and the lines will be seen in the image during the coloring process.
