Instructions

These are easy to knit up an allow you to be creative with "dressing" the dolls.

Difficulty:

Category: Knitting

Type of item: Toy

For: Children

Style: Cute, Whimsical

Materials

Various worsted weight yarns, fun fur and on the smaller version, sport weight yarn

What was your inspiration?

My church knitting group was looking for a small project to make for the children's hospital and for mission trips. This fit the bill perfectly and also helped to use up those bits and pieces left from larger projects. Note that the needle sizes called for in this pattern are British sizes. There are other sites http://www.creativestitchonline.com/pattern.html which use US sizes.

What are you most proud of?

I've been able to personalize these quite easily and also adjust the final size by changing up the needle size. The two larger ones were made with a size 6 needle and the smaller one with thinner yarn and the called for needle size.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Have fun with these! Also, I found it easier to embroider the face before stitching all the way up. I was able to mark the center front and keep everything symmetrical. The hair is simply a strand of fun fur blended with the regular yarn. Instead of pants, I split the number of rows and made skirts for the girls.

the link above takes you to ravelry's pattern. You may have to sign on to ravelry (it's free). I have no problem with the link. Might also be your browser or settings.

Great community project. Always doing baby caps and veteran lap blankets [also prayer shawls] can become boring: fulfilling, but boring.

Sweet. I had no problem opening the file. I switched to FireFox Browser because too many of these type off error's were happening in the Internet Explorer. My friend recommended to switch due to errors,

I made this doll for my unborn grandson...can't wait till he gets here. I really liked the way it worked out and used some of the unused wool that is in the afghan that I made my son and daughter-in-law for their wedding.

I make these in the round with sock needles so there is no sewing up needed.
