Come to the Water

Instructions

Rob Appell seascape workshop. Bought 2 panels from him and one that had turtles at a quilt store. Batiks were my design. Cutting and placement of seascape my design but heavily influenced by Rob's layout.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Religious, Whimsical

Materials

Cotton, metallic thread, cotton thread, polyester thread, warm and white, double sided fusible

What was your inspiration?

Seeing Rob Appell's work

What are you most proud of?

I have never done a fusible applique or two color bindings and both came out well. using metallic thread for the embroidery made it softer and it blended into the fabric which was the desired effect. First large free motion quilting project for me.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Patience. Stitch down features before large areas. i started with the sea and the movement caused the smaller pieces to loosen so it was much harder to get them to lay down.
