I have made granny afghans and ponchos. This is the most beautiful version I have ever seen. Any chance you would share the pattern and colors chosen? I would be most appreciative!

My Grandma made granny square afghans for everyone in our family who got married. It was the one wedding gift I was really looking forward to. Unfortunately, by the time I was old enough to marry, Grandma couldn't make them any more. However, she HAD made one for my mother when she married my stepfather, and after Mom died, my sister gave me that afghan! When I was a kid, I didn't know you could crochet anything else! Grandma always had a pile of granny squares going for the next afghan. Granny squares of any size in lots of colors are still my favorite crocheted thing in the world. :) I love your afghan.

Been doing granny squares for many years but your afghan is beyond beautifu. It has something to do with the colors. I just can't put my finger on it yet...Anyway, mine doesn't look nearly as pretty as yours. It's the colors, I'm thinking....

Nothing says crochet better than a Granny square afghan! Love them all -- they make me feel snug, warm & loved! I love to make them too as a granny square just sort of works itself and you can enjoy a movie or chat with family/friends while you crochet.

Good job! This spread isso pretty. .When I was new to crochetting over 35 years ago. I made one granny square bedspread with larger squares likeyours. Then my 2nd one was made with the traditional 5 round last round in black of course. I loved to sleep under them in the winter. Keep up the good work.

Absolutely LOVE your choice of colors! My hubby just walked by my computer and said, "Hey that's a nice afghan! The granny squares look nice and big!" His mom was into crocheting (and lots of other crafts), just like me! Thanks for sharing!

Where can I find a pattern for granny squares? I would like to learn how to do them, I'm just starting and have done a couple of afghans that were simply double or triple crocheting but would like to learn granny squares! Any suggestions?

I am sure they are easy to find - hobby stores that sell wool usually have lots of patterns. My Mom taught me this - without use of a pattern, it's so easy, I will google it and see what I find.

I actually taught my Mum to crochet when I was 14 she was 44 then the 60's. This was one of her favourite patterns...She was a great knitter and most of our jumpers, cardigans were here creations...She crocheted lots of baby blankets and blankets for old folks homes..

Very pretty and don't feel bad, I didn't learn to do a Granny Square until a few months ago and I'm 42. I've never been a knitter, but have been crocheting since I was a kid. This one is awesome.
