What materials did you use? Batik cotton fat quarters (each square a different fabric.

What are you most proud of? I was pleased with the colour progressions, including the binding which mirrored the colour changes.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Choose strong patterned fabrics. I used strong batiks but you could use strong print fabrics - the point here is to set up the flow of colour...

I didn't have a pattern - I'd seen a photo on Pinterest and worked from that. The quilt consists of 35 eight and a half inch squares in graduated rainbow colours of batik fabric, the sashing is 2 1/2" X 8 1/2" rectangles, and the corners are 2 1/2" squares. Starting at the dark corner, I graduated the shading as well, trying to blend with the colour flow so most of the time, the sashing is a bit darker than the block, but in a few locations it's a bit lighter. I think I was using batik scraps - the sashing didn't take a lot of any one fabric. The binding was pieced as well to reflect the colour changes throughout the top. Sorry I can't be of more help. My first version (http://www.craftsy.com/project/view/kaffe-fassett-quilt-i/158545) contrasted dark sashing with light blocks and light sashing with dark blocks. I had no sooner started sewing when I realized making the colour flow would be interesting.
