Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Casual, Retro / Vintage, Classic

Materials

Pendleton wool, cream coat lining and vintage leather buttons

What was your inspiration?

The wool! I was searching for the perfect fabric to use to make this pattern, and as soon as I saw the bolt of fabric, I knew it was exactly what I wanted.

What are you most proud of?

The fit. It took a lot of time, and two muslins to get the jacket juuust right. The sleeve heads could still use a bit of adjusting, but overall I'm really happy with how it turned out.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Take your time! Tailoring is not something to rush through. Plan on giving yourself plenty of time to make this pattern, and don't try to skip any steps. The key to a great tailored piece is patience.
