Wanted a special occasion dress that was really unique, inexpensive and looked fabulous

I got it done in time for the wedding!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Don't use the couture process on this one. the directions are hard to follow and often use a cut edge as a guide. The pattern directions seemed to confuse the heck out of me so anyone who has done this project please let me know any secrets. I want to make the dress again with a different combination but I struggled this first pass through. The lace I chose was impossible to mark so I was blind a lot of times in lining things up. Anyone have any thoughts on that? None of the tracing papers worked very well. I am glad its done.
