There's no 'pattern' for this bowl, but I'll try to describe what I did. I carded six colours of merino wool together with some throwsters waste to get a pretty colour batt to make a vessel. I had a little wool left over and decided to make this bowl (it measures 18cm across). It's really simple. This is a very pretty bowl and would like to make it. Thank you for the inspiration

Thank you - I like it too - it was just some left-over wool from another project and quite hastily made. But I think it's prettier than the project that I carded the wool especially for!

Thank you - I think the bowl felted easily because I used wool tops that I had carded on my drum carder, so the fibres had already started to 'cross over'.

Hello Jackie, there's no pattern but I'll try to describe what I did. I carded six colours of merino wool together with some throwsters waste to get a pretty colour batt to make a vessel. I had a little wool left over and decided to make this bowl (it measures 18cm across). It's really simple. I put an upturned glass bowl onto a pint-beer glass (to raise the bowl from the work surface - you can use anything suitable for the purpose) then I misted the glass bowl with soapy water. I placed wispy bits of wool, running from the centre bottom of the bowl towards the upper rim of the bowl, and misted the wool with soapy water to get it to stay in place. When I had enough wool in place, I put some tutu netting over it and, with very soapy hands, I gently agitated the wool through the net until it felted (the motion was always from the centre bottom of the bowl towards the upper rim). Then, keeping the felt on the bowl, I ran water over it until it ran clear, then put the whole thing in a warm room to dry. It's standing up well, even though it's delicate felt, but if it starts to droop, I'll either wet it and dunk it in a weak solution of CMC paste before putting it upside down over the bowl to re-set, or I'll firm it up with machine stitching.
