What was your inspiration?
I love working with thread and connect-as-you-go motifs and wanted to make a coverup using this technique.
What are you most proud of?
I started out making a coverup, then decided there would be more options in sizing if the top and skirt were separate. As I was making the skirt, I thought of making a slit in the back. I liked the way that turned out and decided to add the same detail on the sides of the top. I got carried away and added a matching hat, too. I'm very happy with the way my "coverup" turned out!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
If you love thread crochet, this is a great project for the intermediate crocheter. Assembly charts are provided for all sizes.
The finished chest sizes for the top are: 31-1/2", 36", 40-1/2", 45", and 49-1/2".
The finished waist/hip sizes for the skirt are: 22-1/4"/36", 25"/40-1/2", 27-3/4"/45", 30-1/2"/49-1/2", and 33-1/4"/54". Instructions are also included to create intermediate waist sizes for the skirt.
The hat size is 22-1/2" circumference.
The pattern is available for $6.50 and is written in U.S. terms.
The pattern link above is for the 3-piece set. The hat is also available separately as the "Classic Summer Hat".
