Claire Dress

Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Crocheting

Type of item: Clothing

For: Children

Style: Cute

Materials

Quilting Cotton in a Main Color/Contrasting Color, 100% Trade Cotton for Crocheted Bodice, and Pearl Embroidery Thread for Crocheted flower. Size H and B hooks for crochet work. Buttons

What was your inspiration?

My toddler : ). She LOVES to wear dresses, and I was running out of time and decided to crochet the bodice and sew on a simple gathered skirt with coordinating border. I'm a very poor sewer, so this was stretching my limits. Also, I saw similar dresses in the stores and couldn't stomach paying for child slave labor.

What are you most proud of?

I get really excited when I come up with something in my head and it turns out ok. My girls have been experimenting as well, and I love seeing their creativity.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Be patient and prepared to take your time so it turns out nicely.

I've been wanting to try cap sleeves and yokes . . . I'm not that brave, but I will probably try it next summer!

I crochet these bodices for my dress designs as well! I add a little cap sleeve...I've even made the yoke(s) from crocheted frames that work nicely!

No, I don't have a pattern. Just crocheted a long rectangle for the bodice and added a gathered skirt to it.
