Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Cake Decorating

Type of item: Food

For: Men

Style: Military

Materials

Marble Cake, Icing and fondant

What was your inspiration?

I have a friend who is a Civil War reenactor and I have been making cakes for his company's events for a couple of years now! I am a Civil War enthusiast and it was wonderful to have the challenge of trying to make it look 'real'!

What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of the realistic look of the folds of the kepi in the back! Despite it's being a larger version of the kepi, it is realistic looking enough that reenactors were impressed by it!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I would say be careful how you carve, I spent a lot of time, chilling the cake so that it would not melt and used more time than i would expect a 'professional' would have trying to get the cake to not 'fall'!
