This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Re-Piecing the Past: Civil War Blocks Then & Now »

Instructions

Have fun and learn from Kaye! An experienced instructor!

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Traditional

Materials

Cotton Scraps left over from Patriota in Petticoats and my stash. Did not buy a thing.

What was your inspiration?

The class, Repiecing the Past and wanting to use scraps.

What are you most proud of?

That is is so pretty!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Take the class and follow Kaye's instructions. She is amazing. When you are picking colors and fabrics, try and repeat each color about 3 times, like I did with the blue and the rust color. It creates movement and helps pull things together. Again, on the sashings, I tried to coordinate the sashing pieces with the blocks that they surrounded to highlight those blocks.

I love how you framed your entire quilt with the narrow dark border and then used another not-too-busy border as well. I had not heard of the rule of 3, but it sure works for you! Love it!

Thank you! Notice I had 3 blue blocks (the rule of 3 in design) and blue sprinkled around and I tried to coordinate the sashings with the blocks so as not to take away and make it too busy. Carol
