Instructions

I machine embroidered the name of each square corresponding them to the ones on the top. I created this out of my own inspiration. I didn't want to forget the names of the squares.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Home

Style: Traditional

Materials

Leftover fabrics.

What was your inspiration?

That I wanted to record the names and significance of the blocks on the front.

What are you most proud of?

That it actually turned out the way I intended. It still surprises me.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

To keep planning and thinking ahead of yourself. The quilt itself was not for the faint of heart. It started out easy but ended up quite complex but with Kaye England's instruction you can be successful.

I like Ann Peterson's machine quilting classes. I started with Beyond Basics Machine Quilting. I have taken almost all of the different machine quilting classes on Craftsy and have learned something from each one. It took a lot of practice and letting go of perfect results to achieve any satisfactory results.

I feel like we're asking a lot of you because of this quilt, but it's so beyond my imagining. Any chance you could do close-ups of the quilting techniques you used? You mention quilting each block differently. Did you use techniques from any of the quilting as opposed to piecing classes? I'm starting my quilting life here on Craftsy, I tend to order classes when they're on sale and I'm trying to decide what order to watch them in!

Wow and Wow again... this is magnificent. Great idea to ensure you remember which block is which. Love the label very cute.
