What was your inspiration?

Craftsy BOM but love the Civil War era.

What are you most proud of?

Tryng to use very muted colors because during the Civil War it seemed they of course used what they had. I am hoping using a dark background will work out ok it is a real challenge to get the contrast. We shall see how it comes out. I am going to be making 3 quilts using the block of the month for this coming Christmas as gifts.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I think picking your colors so the blocks pop. This is not my usual quilts I am used to doing very bright and bold.

I just looked at your Balkan Puzzle block first & then saw this one. I think the brown is perfect for your husbands quilt. Masculine w/ history! Nice work

I really like the outline on your criss-cross fabric. How did you achieve that effect? I usually stay away from the Civil War fabrics, but you are doing a nice job with the contrast so far. Beautiful block!

Well you know I achieved that effect because pressing to the dark just made it come out that way. Thanks so much for the complement I appreciate it.

Depending which way your backgrounds lean (lgt.,drk.) you could always set this as a focal or wayward (different drummer) block in the quilt. =)
