What materials did you use? Silk crepe de chine, silk georgette, beads

What are you most proud of? Persevering! The fabrics, although gorgeous, were VILE to work with. The crepe de chine was troublesome enough, and I ended up using four layers of fabric in the dress so that it would be drapey, but not revealing. [Both main fabric and lining were underlined in georgette.] The beading on the train had to be reinforced, again without compromising the drape, and I actually had to unpick and re-bead twice. It was very difficult to adapt the simple pattern to look as flattering as possible on my top-heavy, waistless figure...I had to raise the back neckline, which meant the drape had to be completely re-shaped, and the front neckline had to be lowered to stop me looking like a ship's figurehead. I felt very glamorous on the day though, so it was eventually worth it.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Don't use crepe de chine! Take time fitting the toile, and think long and hard about getting those necklines just right.
