Instructions
I used 3 different coordinating patterned papers for the background and another piece of vintage brown paper as a frame for the photograph. All the paper edges have been distressed and inked in brown. The edge of the photograph has also been distress to make it look old instead of the new reproduction. I made the lace flowers by stitching a running stitch along 9 inches of lace. Pulled the stitching to gather into a tight circle then stitched the two ends together to form the flowers. Centers of the flowers have buttons glued on. The larger lollipop flower is made from satin. (There are lots of different videos that tell how to make these if you Google it.) Cut circles in varied sizes from brown and pink satin. Cut a couple of layers of lace to go between layers for additional contrast and more vintage look. Use a heat gun to curl the edges of the satin slightly. Layer and fasten together. Add rhinestone center, feathers in two coordinating colors and a hat pin. I made the hat pin using a corsage pin that I added a few beads to. Insert hatpin into the lollipop satin flower. I ran the same lace used for the flowers down one side of the page next to the picture frame then added the 3 handmade flowers. I also added a journalling block to the bottom which I'll fill out later with personal information.I used 3 different coordinating patterned papers for the background and another piece of vintage brown paper as a frame for the photograph. What was your inspiration?
I am trying to complete a heritage scrapbook album for my daughter of her Great Grandparents. I am also in a FB scrapbooking group where we had a challenge to make and use 3 homemade flowers as well as incorporate lace into a page. This is the page I designed for that challenge.
What are you most proud of?
I love how the papers and embellishments all compliment each other.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Don't be scared to distress and tear your papers and pictures. Also, don't use your old photos but make a copy of them.
