Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Other

Style: Traditional, Religious

Materials

100% cotton fabric, iron on narrow bias tape, polyester batting

What was your inspiration?

Our Church had it's 150th anniversary in 2011 and a parishoner had "history hankies" made up with a picture of the church and year established (1861). There was a contest for the most creative use of the hankie. I decided to make a wall quilt with the hankie in the center and quilt blocks as a border.

What are you most proud of?

This was my first "challenging" qjuilt. Before this I had been doing simple tied quilts of fabric blocks and rectangles.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Spend some time on test blocks to learn the "stained glass" technique. Celtic stained glass quilting is easier than paper piecing which is the other technique for the "Stained Glass" look.

Do you have a pattern for this, I make banners to give to our church and I love this, we are a Methodist Church also. Norma
