What was your inspiration?

I love Irish Chain patterns. I had an Irish Great Great Grandmother, Alice Dorney, that I admire.

What are you most proud of?

The fact that I was able to finish this in the midst of recovering from the May 25th 2011 tornado damage to my sewing studio. There was no electricity in the studio and I couldn't get to my older Bernina, so I set up my Featherweight on a small table and pieced it at the foot of the bed shown in the photo. Jeff is my grandson and he and his new bride love the quilt.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Start looking through your stash of fabric and enjoy the process. All the print fabric in this quilt are flowers. I made the quilt label with my printer as well.

This quilt is featured on the cover of the "Big Book of Scrap Quilts", compiled and edited by L. Amanda Owens and Patricia Wilens for Oxmoor House, first printing in 2005 It is a nice, hard bound book that I bought at Hobby Lobby in Ft Smith, Arkansas. The name of the quilt is actually Jenny's Flower Garden, but I switched names for obvious reasons to give as a gift. The original top (in the book) was hand-pieced by Elizabeth Jenny Cobb (1872-1947) of St Louis, Missouri. Her cousin kept the quilt until 1991, when it was rescued from the trash by Elaine Nielson's aunt. Elaine was happy to finish the quilt. Instructions begin on page 116 in the book.

Amazing, beautiful, vibrant, a work of art, and anybody sits on that quilt with their shoes on is in big trouble. This is talent!
