What materials did you use? Vintage and Modern Cotton fabrics, poly-cotton thread, cotton batting, basting spray.

What are you most proud of? Combining vintage and modern fabrics. Successfully using Ann's technique for spray basting - could not have done this on my domestic machine without it! The center square is bound. It came out extra large as designed.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? This would be a perfect project for jelly roll strips. After joining 5 strips I cut them to size for the panels. You can also change the design a number of ways. Let your creativity go!

Happy New Year, Jean! Both of these Christmas projects are so festive & colorful! You did a great job combining the vintage & the modern. PS Spray basting is the best - that's all I do now after taking Ann's class.

Thanks Darns! I agree, I doubt I'll even baste any other way :D

This is gorgeous Jean - all the tree skirts I have seen are round - like the fact that yours is different and the colours perfect for Christmas - you home would have looked so pretty.

My daughter specified the square design and chose this layout among 4 trials. I like it as well and will most likely do a square one for myself too :D

Great looking tree skirt, Jean. Very festive.

Thanks klh! This was quick and easy from start to finish. I'd already sewn the table runner so combining the vintage and modern fabrics was not a problem. This could easily be sewn using a jelly roll. Thanks again :D

Thank you Marie!

This is terrific too! Are you enrolled in Nancy Smith's "Strip Your Stash" class? Another good one to see ways to use your scraps making beautiful pieces. Great job! Belated "Merry Christmas" to a fabulous quilter. :-)

And a belately Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too Ladybev! I'm not enrolled in Nancy's class but should probably consider it my next one to take. I've built up quite a pile of scraps since beginning with the 2012 BOM. Thanks for the advice!
