What was your inspiration?

I am making a Christmas Table Runner and this is my second block of choice.

What are you most proud of?

I actually finished it and didn't throw it in the bin!!!! I just could not get my points right and my seam ripper was on overtime!!! But I am happy with it now although don't look too closely as you will see where my seam ripper was at work.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Do not rush this block as you there are a lot of points to perfect... but worth the effort I think:)

Wonderful block, really like your fussy cutting. Your points are great & so are your fabric choices. Thanks ever so much for sharing. :-)

Thanks Pam I love the Christmas fabrics, so many to choose from. It was a bit of a pain getting all the points but wasn't going to let it beat me! I have actually made another similar block.

Love this one Desna! Like it even more than our August double star. Can't see any evidence of the above confessions LOL... well done you!

Haha Pam... if you look closely you will see where there was sewing. I like this star block better than the August one too. Thanks for lovely comment

PS- Do your scratching AFTER you've resewn the seam so the edges don't fray or unravel.

Thanks Jean for the great tip, I will certainly try this:) I haven't done the paper piecing yet so I will be sure to keep my seam ripper handy;)

Very pretty Desna! Love the fabrics you've put together so well! Throw it in the bin? I actually did that with one of the paper piecing segments - but like you I persevered and was happy in the end. If you're concerned with the little holes that may remain after ripping just take your fingernail and scratch gently while holding the fabric slightly taught. The threads will go back in place. A little steam and they're "set" to go (sorry for the pun. Again, well done and Happy Christmas!

Well worth all the work with the seam ripper, Desna - you've now got a block with super-duper points! I look forward to seeing the finished runner soon. I think I'll start making a Christmas runner next June and then I shall have one ready for Christmas too!!!

This looks good! Sometimes we just have to have some patience to get it right. Your blocks will make a very festive table runner.
