What are you most proud of? My grandchildren helped me make this quilt. I can not wait to show them the quilt.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? The best advice for anyone is just to step out of your comfort zone and try the different fmq designes on a quilt.

As usual your quilt is beautiful and inspiring. Is there anything you would do differently next time? I saw where you said it took too long. Sometimes i ask myself what's the rush. I really like doing the back of the quilt incorporating the leftovers. I'm probably too frugal or is that cheap.. I find it's a good way to experiment too. Was this a pattern?

I just saw some material that I liked, not knowing what I wanted to make with it. I cut a lot of 3 1/2 inch squares and sewed two on the diagonal together, then put them on the floor to arrange them. I came up with these blocks. Then I made some flying geese in different sizes, then was racking my brain how to make a bigger square out of all of them. so we got a big flying geese, two small flying geese, and a pinwheel that made a bigger block to match up with the other blocks. This is all random. The reason I said it is taking way too long, is because i am making lap quilts for the five grandchildren, and a big quilt for mom and dad for Christmas. I do not think I am going to get it all done. I could have just stippled this quilt so I could get more done. I had fun on this fmq sampler with the different designs though.

Can't believe I missed commenting on your quilt. I LOVE the COLORS! Did you use any practice sandwiches a before you dove into the quilt. It looks like you really learned tons! Great job! Awesome quilt!

I have made too many practice sandwiches in the past. I just watched Leah and just made the designes in the quilt. I just finished binding the quilt this morning. I just washed it and it is in the dryer. I have cotton batting, and I like to wash and dry the quilts before I give them out. I used Leahs wavy method on the border. It looks great. I will post a final picture later. Thanks for your comment.

Great quilting job! Leah is a fantastic teacher!

Thank you, and Leah does have a lot of people who have learned from her. I dont think she really knows how much.

Cool! I like how the thread build up looks.

I just learned that is called thread play.... When the thread builds up like that. It can make your design look real nice. But you have to have some good thread that will not break when you sew over it that many times. Thank you for your comment.

What a beautiful quilt! The white thread over the dark background really show up the design!
