Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Holiday, Cute

Materials

Cotton fabrics, red with golden swirls, light grey and linen fabric for the background. Red fabric with pink, gold and black pattenr for the binding. A decorative ribbon, ecru. Champagnecolored polyesterthread for applique and quilting. Thin batting (I don't know which) and a white cottonfabric for the back.

What was your inspiration?

I saw the pattern for a doily (?) in the norwegian magazine "Quiltmagasinet", no. 6/2011. I was looking for a pattern to a tablerunner for Cristmas and thought I could change the pattern myself. This small sample quilt I made to see how the fabric would fit together.

What are you most proud of?

That I can use the sample as a nice wallhanging in my office. And the free motion quilting, which I still think is a bit difficult.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

A small sample quilt is a good choice if you don't have a lot of time or are a beginner in quilting and applique.
