Quick-Strip Paper Piecing »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Holiday, Traditional

What was your inspiration?

Peggy Martin's Quick Strip Paper Piecing class and wanting to make something Christmasy for my daughter.

What are you most proud of?

Very happy with the way all the center points on the star lined up perfectly! I'm also proud of myself for not saying any bad words when I had a couple of "tricky moments" with the metallic thread I used for the quilting. ;-)

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I'd never tried setting a block on point before so once I got the dream weaver block done, I was just sort of winging it when I added the borders and corner triangles. Unfortunately I didn't take into account the need to make the corner triangles big enough to allow for the seam allowance when adding the outer border, so I lost my nice points there. Using the same fabric in the inner and outer border more or less camouflaged that though. This was a very fun project!
