Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Handcrafted Sugar Flowers »

Instructions

I used Jacqueline Butler's leaf instructions for the holly leaves on all the cupcakes and candy canes.

Category: Cake Decorating

Type of item: Food

For: Children

Style: Traditional, Holiday, Whimsical, Cute

Materials

Fondant, gumpaste, holly leaf cutters, small daisy cutter, star cutter, square & circle cutters for presents, sugar glue, #2 piping tip

What was your inspiration?

Since this was my daughter's class Christmas party cake, she wanted to be very involved with the design process (don't you know!!) So, we sat down - googled pictures, got ideas, and sketched out the cake on paper. Our 1st collaboration! Love it!

What are you most proud of?

I'm proud that my daughter is proud of her design choices!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

The Christmas trees are easy, but time consuming - I love the end result, however, so it was worth it to me. There are a lot of other tree designs out there that look super cute, that might not take as long to finish. Leave plenty of drying time - as the trees, snowman, and presents all needed a couple of days to dry before continuing on with the detail work.
