Get the inspiration after saw some Japanese dolls.
Want to make a doll with red cheongsam and two hair buns, and this is the result.
This one is the toughest among the other amigurumi I've made. I've made the cheongsam, by try and error again, which the end result I was not satisfied, the front piece was narrower than the back piece, and the joining parts were so ugly.... But I was too lazy to tear out and start over again, so just let it be :P
(Visit my blog for the draft picture on the cheongsam creation: http://mycloudyland.blogspot.com/2011/08/amigurumi-china-doll.html)
And for the hair, since I needed to make two hair buns, which means I needed to pass through strands on the middle part of the head too, and another time-consuming part for me...
After completed, made two pony tails on the left and right of head, then cut them shorter just enough to stuff inside the 'bun caps'.
The 'bun cap' just simply work in round, as if working on the body or head, according to desired diameter and height (which depends on the amount if hair on the pony tail). Then stuffed the hair into the 'bun cap' and sewed the edge of the cap to the head.
Although having a bad looking costume, luckily the overall look turned out ok, and kind of cute due to the big hair buns~
