All fabric used was purchased from two quilt shops. Thread and batting was purchased from a fabric store as well.
What was your inspiration?
A new born baby. I like to make new blanket quilts instead of the crib size that is usually made. The small quilts get used for a very short time because of the size. I like the idea that the child can use it for several years. From beginning of birth, for a floor quilt when the child is rolling and crawling and for the child to use as the child gets bigger. This quilt is the size of a normal throw quilt: 55"X55".
What are you most proud of?
I love the colors of the fabric used, placement on the backing and this is the first quilt I have quilted completely on my own.. I normally send it off to a long-arm quilter for the final quilting process.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Have fun with it, make it make a statement. I love contrast, so put dark fabric next to a light fabric like I did on the back of the quilt. I posted pictures on my Facebook site. NO one commented on the front, but the back had many comments! It is the great contrast that catches the eye.
