I didn't really have a pattern - basically made it up as I went along :) But if someone really wanted to I could make it into a patternDifficulty:

Cotton fabric for top and back, 2 strand embroidery floss for applique and iron on pellon for thin wadding.
What was your inspiration?
My teenage son was watching me piece a geometric quilt and said "Wouldnt a chess board make a good quilt?" My son and husband play chess regularly. He chose the fabrics from my stash to suit the place in the room where the chess board lives and we put it together over a wet weekend ! Quick and easy
What are you most proud of?
Being able to take his idea and turn it into a finished product. Also, I have always been a bit scared of checkerboard patterns, but the corners worked out pretty well.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
it was fun and easy - be brave! Who needs patterns :)
