I have a Japanese daughter whose Japanese name is "Sakura" - meaning cherry blossom - because she was born on April 11, the day the cherry blossoms were most beautiful, in 1973. I cannot wait to make your cake for her. Thank you for sharing your artistry!

It's such a charming cake! It's interesting that you left the edges thick to give it a fabric like look. Different than regular. I like that effect.

Did you find your cutter? It looks to be the "Easy Rose" cutter. I know GSA has them. The 80 or 90 mm.

realy I would like about two weeks.. That way they do not get too hard. but if they are stored in a dry clean box they can last for as long as they are dry.

I made chocolate clay with melts and corn syrup. It was much less expensive, easier to work with and was tastier than fondant. It is a lovely cake, thank you for sharing.

my problem is knowing what to charge when I have put so much time into a cake. I'm always afraid to charge what is is worth. How many would this feed and what would you charge for a cake like this to give me an idea,
Sally Ryan on craftsy.com
Dec 27, 2011   Flag as inappropriate
This is only a small cake for arround 30 people. I would charge $180 -$210.. The flowers are fast once you get set up. But if they took a long time i would charge more.

This is beautiful and so festive! I love pink too and as it also looks delicious I can't wait to try this (I might start with cupcakes to get the hang of making the flowers first : ) Are the 'pearl' flower centers edible? Where did you find them? Thank you for sharing this lovely project.
