What are you most proud of? It just turned out beautifully! What I really like about it is that it is worked in the round that that there are ZERO seams to touch a very sensitive head.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Just follow the instructions about the front loop/back loop crocheting... such an easy thing to do and the pattern turns out lovely! I tacked the headband on too tight.. I used one single thread and ran it all around... I ended up taking that out and just tacking it separately in a few spots.

I am a 16-year breast cancer survivor. I would have LOVED to wear something this pretty when I was enduring chemo!

Does this fit YOUR head? I have made over 50 hats, and have taken many measurements, and have found head sizes to be 20-21 inches from the ages of 3-7 and 22 inches ages 8-adult.

It does fit my head, but I stitched the band on too tight....

Can someone please explain better than the direction the front/back loop thing and how to continue the rounds? I've worked it as the directions state for 9 rounds but ended up with 6 spirals radiating from the beginning stitches. I sc in front loop then sc in the back loop of the same sc then sc in the next stitch and repeat 6X. Next row is the same only after the one front/back loop stitches, I sc in the next stitch and then again in the next stitch and repeat 6X. Also the pattern doesn't state to join the rounds with a slip stitch until the end @ 7.5 inches. Is this correct?

If you have worked 9 rounds, you should have 9 spirals.... I hope you are using a marker to mark the beginning of each new round as they are NOT joined until the hat measures 7.5 inches. The only time you will work 1 stitch into the front loop and then one loop into the back loop of the same stitch is when you are doing the increases. The rest of the time you will work one stitch in the front loop only and the next stitch in the back loop only. Other than the very first round, there are no sc worked in both loops like a normal sc until you work the brim. This is what gives the hat it's pattern. The way you are doing it, you are making 3 sc for every 2 sc stitches in the hat which won't work out. So for round 3 where it says [2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc] 6 times 18 sc. You will work sc in the front loop of stitch 1, then you will work sc in the back loop of stitch 1, then sc in the front loop of stitch 2. Then sc in the back loop of stitch 3, sc in the front loop of stitch 3, and the back loop of stitch 4. Just alternate front loop and back loop. Use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of each row and make sure to count your stitches to make sure you have done each row correctly. I hope this helps.

You can click on the link beside where it says "name of website or photo". It will take you right there. If you can't find that, just click on this link... it's a Red Heart pattern:
