How to Make a Chef's Hat by Crafty Gemini »
InstructionsI followed this Crafty Gemini tutorial but added one additional step to help the "pouf" stand up more. After sewing the pouf to the head band and finishing that seam with a zig zag stitch, I then laid the seam allowance flat against the head band and stitched an additional seam to attach the seam allowance to the headband.
Type of item: Clothing
cotton fabric, medium weight fusible interfacing, thread, velcro
What was your inspiration?
After seeing the video tutorial, I knew I had to make this for my Godson, Hunter, who loves to cook.
What are you most proud of?
I love it all. It was such a quick and fun project to make!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
This was for a 13 year old boy with a 22" head, so I had to think a little about how to increase the size, but keep it proportional. After a little experimenting, I cut the band fabric to 26" and overlapped it by close to 2" when sewing it to the pouf. I cut the pouf fabric to 22" square (before rounding the corners).
