Cheese and Crackers

Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Cute, Classic, Outdoorsy, Mod, Casual, Traditional

Materials

Cottons, Calicos

What was your inspiration?

Actually I saw the Quilt in a Magazine and Copied it. I didn't use a pattern I just saw it and made it.

What are you most proud of?

I'm glad it came out well. A lot of the quilts are made because I've seen a picture or a quilt in a shop.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This is a really easy quilt for the advanced beginer. Its fun and picking out the fabric can be fun too.

Another great quilt top! Thanks for taking the time to clarify the instructions for us - I know I can't write instructions that ANYONE could follow - yours seem quite clear.

the white blocks are 9 1/2" x 12 1/2". To clarify 3 1/2" squares of white on top and bottom of calico blocks for out sides and (2) 6 1/2" x 3 1/2" calico strips sewn together for center. Making a 9 1/2" x 12 1/2" calico block. first row calico block then white block and so on. Thank God I can talk instructions better then I can write them. feel free to email me. I will be happy to clear up question... Emmit

OK. I dont remember the number of pieces to cut, but, here goes. aprox 36 12 1/2" L x ( 1/2" W white blocks, many 6 1/2" L x 3 1/2" wide Calico. 1) calico block first strip 3 1/2 square on top and bottom +3 1/2" W x 12 1/2" L, second strip 2, 6 1/2" x 3 1/2" sewn together and third strip same as first strip. That makes your Calico blocks. First row calico block ^ then your white block. alternate making calico block your last block for first row. 2) Flip calico block > for second row. Sorry but I cant remember the size square you put to start the row its white first, I just cant remember the mesurements, after the first white square it will go calico then ^ 1/2" L 3 1/2" W strip between each block ending the second row with white block. Alternate rows. boarder with 3 1/2" W white boader. I made a king size and I think I had 7 or so rows. 3) The boader: 6 1/2" x 3 1/2" and 3 1/2" calico squares sew 3 1/2" sq. to 6 1/2" x 3 /1/2" block. Alternate square on top flip square on bottom and so on. Thats the best that I can remember. Ofcourse after writing all this you can buy the pattern for $8.00 on virginiaquilter.com
