What materials did you use? All cotton, fabric, batting, and thread.

What are you most proud of? This is the largest quilt so far (Jan. 2013) that I have completed and quilted on my own, an almost 1.5 m or 55 inches square after quilting which tremendously reduced its initial size. Used trapunto (double batting layer) for the dark pink and green zigzags as well as a fine purple-thread border around them. This combination really brings them forward. I also started in the summer 2012 to include home-printed fabric labels in the back of my quilts surrounded by a log-cabin border made from left-over fabrics from the same quilt. I am particularly fond of the label for this quilt.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Be accurate, which is easy with paper piecing anyway, because misaligned points will not go well with this pattern. Also, take time to audit the fabrics when selecting them. Choose high contrast ones for the zigzags. It will make a big difference.

Your zigzag quilt is coming along beautifully!! I love how you used your colors and pretty floral fabrics, and can't wait to see your final photos when the quilting is finished!

Thank you for your kind words. Needed the encouragement as I was experiencing difficulties with the quilting of the center of the quilt. Now, all the quilting is done and I am in the process of taking out the plastic sheet.
