Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Funky

What was your inspiration?

I wanted to try the "Twister' block...

What are you most proud of?

Originally I sashed the centre of the quilt and it looked terrible, so I unpicked it, removed the sashing, and reassembled it - worth the effort as it looks much better. I didn't start with a 'plan' - it just 'grew' at every stage and I'm quite pleased with the result. Also, I'm happy with the FMQ I did on the borders - getting better with practice :)

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

It's liberating not to have a plan - give it a go...

So striking! I love the blue you have chosen. The multiple borders frame the colorful center so well. I like the way the flying geese border breaks up the simplicity and adds motion.

Thanks Pamillia. The centre didn't quite turn out as I had imagined and I struggled with what to do to improve it. I gave it to my elderley, but rather funky, Aunt this morning and she was thrilled.
