What was your inspiration?

My brother passed away unexpectedly a few months ago. This was before his only son and his fiance had their first baby. A baby girl Elizabeth. I thought that I would like to make something for my niece which could be a keepsake from her fathers family.....a quilt. I have never been interested in quilting but I thought I would give it a try. I found it to be a soothing and rewarding experience. I have plans for (2) more quilts. Plans and yes I started my statsh. Laughs!

What are you most proud of?

My four patches are matched perfectly in the centre every one but one. I left it and its not noticeable.
My sashing is NOT good but I have let myself of the hook it is my first quilt.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Watch Jenny's Video's watch her Craftsy.com classes. Start a quilting book for yourself and enjoy.

Quilting Scheri - it will become a passion, and the quilts will get bigger. You have made a wonderful start, a lovely tribute to your brother. Enjoy piecing and the math!

Scheri I think your quilt is lovely! It's an amazing achievement to line up all those corners on your first quilt!! I am new to quilting too - I also find that it is immensely comforting - and it's way better to quilt for comfort than eat for comfort!! Where would we be without Jenny Doan?? The discovery of quilting will enrich our lives for years to come! I'm sorry to hear of your loss- hugs!!

Very pretty . I love your fabric choice and the sashing really makes each block important. I have been eyeing "kissing booth" fabric for a month or so and it's nice to see how it works in a piece. May have to add it to my collection!
