What are you most proud of? I'm obsessed about making handmade polymer clay beads. When I buy fabric to make a fabulous handbag--even before I think about its shape or function--I'm thinking about the beads I'll make to decorate it.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Be obsessed. It's ok. Everyone already knows you're obsessed. Live your life so that every morning when you awake, the devil says--"Oh no, she's awake!"

Fabulous colors in this one and the beads are wonderful! Know just what you mean about obsession. Mine is sometimes followed by temporary burnout and then it returns with a vengeance.

2strings. I love your humor, which is only exceeded by your talent in sewing and drawing. I agree with you. Right now I NEED some burnout. I feel guilty about not tending to other practical matters (laundry and vacuuming). I made a hot mess in the studio yesterday--total waste. I tried a purse of colors well out of my comfort zone. Oh yuck. I think it's destined for the trash. It is so bad--the only thing left is to cut it up into pieces, put glitter all over it, add eyelets and strings, and make Christmas ornaments out of it. Ha. Ha.

I need to learn how to do the polymer beads. Can you suggest a good book to start with. Also, is there a brand of polymer clay you prefer. Was checking things out in Hobby Lobby last week & bought nothing cause I was just plain confused.

Hi Georgy Girl. My favorite HOW TO BOOK is: The Art of Polymer Clay by Donna Kato--available through Amazon.com for $15. Tip: I shop for 2 different craft books at a time because there is free shipping for purchases of $25 or more. If you buy The Art of Polymer Clay book from retail store you will a pay higher price--$20. My favorite brand of polymer clay is PREMO; I rate it as best $$value, easiest to use (neither too firm, nor too soft). I buy larger bricks of PREMO in black, yellow, white, and translucent--because I use lots of those colors to mix into other packaged colors to make my own custom colors and to match fabrics. I made about 40 beads and buttons last night to match French Blue/Yellow fabrics for summer bags. I'll post photos to show you how I prepare the holes, and baking pans/wires to bake them in my kitchen oven in 30 minutes at 275 degrees F.
